This wine is the first vintage of the Stone Eagle Rosé. Sourced from the Stone Eagle Estate vineyard, this wine is 100% Cabernet Franc. The vineyard is meticulously maintained, including crop thinning and leaf plucking. The fruit is harvested early to provide a balance of flavour and freshness. The wine is matured for 6 months in small Acacia barrels. The inviting light salmon-pink color of this wine is the first indication of its delicacy. Subtle yet complicated in character, the nose is a lovely expression of the complexity of the wine. Soft red fruit notes frame a floral nose of rose petals, dried flowers and very subtle potpourri spice, revealing its Cabernet Franc heritage. The palate is surprisingly rich and textured as it also reflects the fruit and spice notes of this wine. The time in barrel imparted a slight amount of tannin to build the elegant mouthfeel. This is a finesse wine throughout, transitioning into a lovely and lingering finish.
